Founder
Dr. Anita Gooding is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and seasoned educator whose work bridges social work practice, research, and transformative learning. Her experience spans both micro and macro levels of practice where she has worked in community outreach and organizing, HIV/AIDS treatment education, outpatient therapy, and medical social work. She has also served in higher education leadership as a BSW Practicum Director, supporting the development of emerging social work professionals.
As a scholar, Dr. Gooding’s research aims to challenge dominant norms and expand possibilities for belonging. She has written on race, identity, and the use of self in social work practice—particularly within social work practicum education—drawing on frameworks such as critical race theory and social identity theory. Her scholarship also includes work on queer(ed) space and white supremacy.
As an educator, Dr. Gooding facilitates learning environments that invite critical reflection, conscious practice, and growth. Her approach integrates case studies and interactive activities to encourage social work professionals to deepen their practice while advancing equity, justice, and collective liberation.
